Incorporating visual performance drills into your overall training routine can drastically improve performance. 

Below are basic training videos for your reference.  These are designed to be a starting point for training and/or an example of what you can do. 

Vision Training should be purposeful and performed only after a comprehensive eye exam and complete vision assessment by an eye doctor.  This will allow for maximum gains from training.  Consult your Sports Vision Specialist to help with a training program.   The resources here are intended for your information only and not be disseminated or profited without expressed written consent of Sports Vision Pros, LLC.  ​

Training normally starts where things are challenging and continues to ramp up the intensity with the athlete's own progress.  Loading of training - One can also load training by adding time limits/constraints (ex. metronome), balance tools, distraction, cognitive loading, and splitting attention.

Ball Pass

This is a basic passing drill where you can add difficulty and dynamic movement easily.  Above, you will find a downloadable PDF with instructions on how to perform to basic ball pass drill. The tabs below offer short descriptions and videos showing different variations of this drill.

In this video, Kobe performs a basic ball throw.  We also ask him to try to call out the numbers before or as soon as he catches it.  ​​
This version includes a side shuffle and that ramps up the difficulty.  They also use two balls.  If this is too difficult, then have the athletes stand in one spot and start with one ball.
Here, Gavin alternates between turning to his right and left as quickly as possible and catching the ball.  The time of the turning is dictated by our Athletic Traininer, Eric Pitkanen.  If Gavin is able, he calls out the number on the ball.
Here, the Athletic Trainer, Eric Pitkanen, calls out which hand Kobe has to use.  Hand is called out right when Eric releases the ball.  This is an advanced type of catching due to the speed of the throw, the cognition of determining the hand, and the reaction time to catch.  This is tough, so nice job Kobe.
Here, the our Athletic Trainer, Eric Pitkanen, tosses two balls that Gavin has to catch.  It is tough, so nice job Gavin.
A difficulty training tool to hold two tennis balls and then switch hands quickly.  This is a big challenge and Gavin gets on a roll.

This is a nice warm-up tool were an individual has to use their peripheral awareness and eye-hand reaction time to make a catch.

​Ladder Drill withBall Toss

In this training exercise, the guys do two different types of ladder drills.  While moving they call out the number of fingers held out by the athletic trainer, Eric Pitkanen.  At the end of the run, they catch a ball and try to identify the number on the ball.

​Wall Ball Catch

There are a lot of variations on this one. This is a great reaction time drill.  In a closer proximity, there is less time to react.  You can also increase the difficulty by adding strobe glasses, calling out numbers on the tennis balls, and many other ways.  ​
